Alien Ambush ™
Xbox 360 LIVE Community Games
Object of Alien Ambush
The object of the game is clear as many sectors of aliens as possible. Each sector consists of two screens of aliens. After a sector is cleared you are given the opportunity to refuel your ship. You must navigate through the asteroid field surrounding the mother ship. Then you can refuel.
If you run out of fuel you will lose a ship.
If you crash in the asteroid field surrounding the mother ship you will lose the chance to refuel and lose a ship.
How to play
When ready appears press A to start playing. If you do not start within a couple of seconds, the game will start for you. Move your ship left and right shooting the aliens and avoiding their lasers. When you have destroyed all the aliens on a screen you will fly up to the next screen.
The bar under your score tells you how many aliens remain. There is one line for each remaining alien.
The bar at the bottom of the screen tells you how much fuel you have left. If you run out of fuel you will lose a ship.
Auto-fire
You can press the Y button to turn auto-fire on or off.
Scoring
Aliens begin at 100 points each. They go up in value in every wave.
You also receive points for each asteroid destroyed while in the Asteroid Belt and a bonus for any remaining fuel when you dock with the Mother Ship.
Sometimes when you destroy an alien a weapon upgrade will appear. Catch these flashing icons with your ship. You can downgrade your weapon by picking up an inferior weapon.
Power Ups
The Bomb Icon will add one bomb to your inventory. Press the B button or either bumper on your controller to launch a bomb. Press it again to detonate the bomb. Any alien hitting the explosion of the bomb will be destroyed. Note the aliens can drop bombs on you too.
The red laser icon is the laser you begin with.
The green laser icon changes your weapon to the green laser. Green lasers fire out of the wings of your ships. This weapon fires two lasers at a time.
The gold laser icon changes your current weapon to gold. Gold lasers fire straight through aliens and continue until they are out of range. For maximum fire power add Gold to your Green Lasers.

History
Alien Ambush was designed in 1984 for the Commodore 64 Home Computer and the Mattel Intellivision Video Game System but was never released due to the video game industry crash of 1984. The first release of Alien Ambush was on the Commodore Amiga home computer in 1993 under the Starline Entertainment Software Network brand of The SGN/Starline Company. In 1995, Alien Ambush was planned as the first game on the IBM PC Computers from The SGN/Starline Company. The slower speed and greater difficulty of sound and graphics under MS-DOS made the game too difficult to port and as such, Super Ice Qube Hopper was actually released first.
In 1997 Alien Ambush was ported to Microsoft Windows 95 and finally released on this platform. Windows players found the original port too easy to play. Bombs and harder difficulties were added as a free upgrade.
The Xbox 360 version is this updated version from 1997.
